Othman Lakhal, Senior Lecturer at Polytech Lille and Teacher in the Embedded Systems (ES) Engineering Masterโs program, told us that using Niryo robotic arms gives first-year students access to hands-on learning.
โA robotics engineer needs to develop an in-depth understanding, from the systemโs mechanical architecture, to kinematic modeling, to programming, to robot control, to be able to meet a multitude of needs, such as computer vision-based pick and place, 3D printing, brachytherapy, inspection, and many other applications. Atย Polytech, we have several industrial robots at our disposal. However, due to safety considerations, access to the low-level control of these robots is generally not allowed for students.โ
ย
Forย Polytech Lille, this type of robot has a number of objectives:
โOur aim is to enable students to carry outย small-scale studies, then apply this knowledge to larger systems with more advanced technologies.
Thatโs why we were looking for a more compact solution for transport, at lower cost and suitable for versatile use in various events such asย practical work, projects and demonstrations. This solution should also promote man/machine collaboration in terms of safety, and be accessible to all programming levels, from Bac+3 to Bac+5, using programming languages such as C++, Python, Matlab, etc.โ
ย

โTheย Niryo robotย is extremely practical in terms of transportation, making it ideal for a variety of uses. We mainly use it forย practical workย on control and modeling inย Matlab.โ
โWe also use the Niryo robot in projects. For example, we have used it to remotely control its movements by following the gestures of a human arm, to catch a moving object using computer vision, or to develop a small-scale mobile manipulator robot. This versatility makes it an invaluable tool for learning and research in the field of robotics.โ

Othman Lakhal tells us thatย Niryo 6-axis robotic armย enables his curriculum to improve and his students to benefit from a state-of-the-art robot:
โNiryo brings significant value to the robotics TP/projects we want to develop, improve and align withย Industry 4.0 trends. One of its major advantages is its ease of use, as well as its compatibility with several programming languages such as Python, C++, ROS, Matlab, and many others. This versatility enables us to respond flexibly to the specific needs of our projects, and guarantees seamless integration into our educational programs.โ
